My name is Mareile Stoppel. I have been in New Zealand since 1986 coming originally from Germany. I have worked in Christchurch as a counsellor / therapist for over 20 years in different agencies, private practice and at the local Rudolf Steiner School. I offer a warm and safe environment and like to engage with people of all walks of life. I suppo... rt people to identify their strengths and to discover their unique potential and passion for life. I prefer working alongside people at their pace, valueing their own experience and expertise. I support people to explore life, face their challenges and blocks and find new perspectives . I take an eclectic and very creative approach to counselling and like to include in my work elements of relevant therapeutic approaches depending on the need of my client. I graduated in 2000 in Solution Focused therapy and later also trained in Narrative therapy, Sand tray therapy and Art therapy. Since 2014 I focused on trauma therapy training enspired by Peter Levine and I am now a fully trained Somatic Experiencing Trauma Therapist (SEP). I have also trained in EMDR and am combining often both modalities to offer specific trauma treatment. I am excited to bring body centred trauma therapy to Christchurch which can release stress in the body and emotional blocks allowing to become whole and stable and healthy again. As a supervisor I take a Narrative based approach and offer a creative and somatic based perspective. I have supervised over the last 15 years many counsellors and counselling trainees.
