The business was initially started by the present Chief Executive Dr. Yousuf K. Maraikkar in the name of Roshan Trade Centre in 1995 with one show room at Manning Place, Wellawatte. During a short period of three years, Roshan Trade Center was able to cater a significant sector in the national interior decorative market. Due to this rapid growth in... its business operations it had to go for an entity as a legal body. Subsequently on October 20th 1998, Roshan Trade Center was registered under the Companies Act No. 17 of 1982 as a limited liability Company (LLC) in the name of Roshan Trading Co. (Pvt) Ltd (RTC) in 1999. RTC expanded its business operations with opening another three showrooms and a store at its premises at Manning Place. Expanding the operations further, shifted its head office to the present location at 481 & 483, Havelock Road, Colombo 6 in 2011 and built stores at 75/9, Rajaguru Sri Subothi Mawatha, Colombo 6 while continuing to operate its branch at Manning Place, Wellawatte. In the business journey of RTC, the exclusive dealerships received in 2000 for Aluminium Extrusions and Paints from Alumex Group of Companies and Akzo Nobel Paints Lanka Ltd respectively are remarkable achivements. Apart from the local trading RTC started to import a quite a lot of hardware & interior decorative materials such as MDF Boards, Plywood Boards, Gypsum Boards, Float Glass, Silicon & Ceiling Fans from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, UAE, Bangladesh and Thailand. Under the efficient management and leadership of Dr. Yousuf K Maraikkar the business was diversified to restaurant and pool parlour recreation in 2005 and presently running two establishments namely Romaanz Halal Family Restaurant and Pool Parlour at No 6 duplication road Colombo- 05.
