The Roche Court Educational Trust was established in 2005. It is a registered charity with eight trustees. For over fifteen years, we have organised a programme of tours, lectures, discussions, projects and workshops, all of which are open to students, teachers, community and specialist groups. During the school holidays, the Trust provides family... workshops to encourage the enjoyment of looking and talking about art together. The ARTiculation programme began in 2006, established by Madeleine Bessborough, Director of New Art Centre and Lucy Salisbury, then Head of the Roche Court Educational Trust in partnership with the Head of History of Art at Winchester College, Laurence Wolff. Originally the competition was conceived as a tribute to the Art Historian Kenneth Clark, in honour of his commitment to the study and promotion of the arts. In 2006 several local schools were invited to Roche Court to deliver their ARTiculation presentations to an audience of their peers and an adjudicator. Three years later ARTiculation partnered with the University of Cambridge and it became a national competition, which involves hundreds of students each year. The ARTiculation Prize Grand Final now takes place at Clare College, Cambridge where adjudicators have since included Antony Gormley, Hannah Rothschild, Sir Nicholas Serota CH, Jon Snow and Edmund de Waal. The programme now works in partnership with many galleries and museums in the UK and Ireland to deliver a programme of outreach and an offer for GCSE students, and involves university undergraduates and alumni in developing their careers in art.Read More
