With many years experience, Robert Scott & Sons Ltd is in a unique position to respond to a rapidly developing market. The family business was first established in 1925, when a spinning and weaving mill producing cleaning cloths was opened by Robert Scott's father James Scott. The business passed to Robert in 1939 and he continued running the business until 1959. Then through a government scheme to reduce over capacity in the textile industry the mill was closed. Robert Scott immediately re-started manufacturing in new premises without the cotton spinning, quickly establishing a small range of cleaning products, including mops. Helped by his sons James and Peter, the business steadily grew until in 1971 they moved to a much larger location, Oak View Mills which created the space for a rapid increase in production.
