Robert College

Founded in 1959, Robert College Alumni Association of America (RCAAA) is a U.S.-based organization providing support to Robert College (RC), American College for Girls (ACG) and Robert Academy (RA) alumni living mainly in the United States. RCAAA's primary goal is to enhance and expand the RC community by keeping alumni and friends in touch with th... e School and one another, and to support the efforts of Robert College Trustees. In addition to organizing social and cultural events such as the Young Alumni and Spring Dinners, Bar Nights and other regional activities, RCAAA provides mentorship and career related services to the RC community while maintaining a communication venue amongst the alumni of all ages located in the United States. One of the major programs in RCAAA's portfolio is the Welcome to USA Awards. RCAAA annually welcomes three recent RC graduates who are accepted to universities and colleges in United States with a "happy landing" check. This long-standing tradition of RCAAA has been continuing since 1993 without interruption. Any RC senior, who is planning to attend college in the US, and who demonstrates need for support, can apply for this Award. The goal of this initiative is not only to provide financial support to the young alumni starting out as college students, but also to build stronger ties between the School and the RC community established in the United States. The selection is based on a number of criteria including financial need, academic success and extracurricular activities. The candidates describe their backgrounds, portray their interests and express their needs through written essays, which are reviewed and evaluated by RCAAA Board Members. The process is typically conducted during the May - June time period each year, and the successful recipients are announced in June, in time for the Awards to be officially presented during the RC Graduation Ceremony.
