About Rips

RIPS® is the original rolling paper on a roll. Here's how it all began: RIPS started life as a family run printers in the early 1970s. In 1972 RIPS® capitalised on the emerging hairdressing industry and started to produce perm papers. They soon became the largest supplier of perm papers on the market with the brand "Pollié". During the 1970s and early 80s, under the brand name FLAG, RIPS® began making cigarette papers sold in Union Jack, Welsh and various European flag packaging. The product was supported by a campaign targeting the male roller with the strapline "For a man like you ..." Finding it hard to compete with major UK brands with similar products, 1982 saw the launch of RIPS®, the original rolling paper on a roll! The product originally launched with regular Red and Kingsize Blue widths. In 1986 a slim width Green rice paper was introduced. In 1993 100% hemp papers were launched. In 1994 RIPS was granted exclusive UK distribution of the No.1 Spanish owned "Smoking" brand of cigarette paper. 1998 saw a considerable investment in new packaging machinery to keep up with the demands for the product. 2005 saw the development of the "Xtra Thin" RIPS papers to meet the demands of the quality conscious consumer. In 2006 RIPS launched their flavoured rolling paper and invested heavily in machinery that would seal the packs to keep in taste and aroma. In 2007 the brand moved to its own purpose built manufacturing facilities in Cheltenham, UK. In 2008, RIPS launched the Great Rip Up competition, drawing in hundreds of creative packaging designs from across the Country. In 2009 RIPS launches 'Skint?', a new website for Rips Rollers. 2013 - with the popularity of vaping increasing in the UK RIPS begin to work with a British manufacturer of E Liquid using quality ingredients sourced from the EU & US. 2014 - Launch of the R-ejuice brand.
