He started his career in real estate and construction over 50 years ago. He learned these trades from an experienced and knowledgeable family. His father, John Riffe, had a professional career in real estate with the J.C. Nichols Company and his father-in-law, J. Winston Thompson, was a land developer and home builder. Hank constructed his first home in 1958 and followed it with over a thousand more. Within a few years, he was developing his own residential subdivisions as well. Hank founded Riffe Construction Company in 1961. After 24 years as a realtor, land developer, and home builder in Missouri and Kansas, Hank expanded to commercial development and construction in the late 1970's. After several years of working in Olathe, KS, Hank saw the growth potential and healthy business environment there. So, he chose Olathe for his next enterprise, owning and leasing commercial property. Today, the Riffe companies own nine industrial properties with a mix of tenants ranging from small, local family businesses to large national and international corporations. Now headquartered in Olathe, KS, Riffe Construction Co. is entering its sixth decade in business. Hank's son, Jeff Riffe, joined the company in 2001, extending the construction business to a third generation. Michele Allen is the Office Manager-a job with wide-ranging responsibilities.
