Richmond Rescue provides 911 ambulance service to the towns of Richmond, Bolton, Huntington and southern Jericho. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit in business since 1971. Our funding comes from a variety of sources: about half from billing our patients, a third from town contributions and the remainder from donations, grants, CPR training and investment... s. Each year we go on about 550 calls and transport 350 patients. Calls range in severity from minor orthopedic injuries to cardiac arrest and multi-trauma. We operate an an Advanced EMT level. This gives us the ability to insert IVs and breathing tubes, give a variety of medications and have access to equipment and monitoring devices that can help a critically ill patient. We have 40 active volunteers, 3 full times staff and a few part time employees. Volunteers donate more than 25,000 hours of time each year while our paid staff only work about 5000 hours a year. All of our crews are stationed in quarters while they are on duty. This leads to us getting an ambulance on the road to an emergency in about one and a half minutes.Read More
