The company's foundation traces to Munro Distributing Company, Inc., a family-owned electrical distributor established in 1942 in Fall River, Massachusetts, which expanded to 14 locations nationwide and employed over 200 people before joining Rexel. Munro's Energy Efficiency department, created in 1988, became instrumental in supplying efficient lighting and controls to contractors, ESCOs, utilities, municipalities, and government agencies, ultimately enabling retrofits across millions of square feet of building space.
