Kalpana Gorthi ,MD, FACP is board certified Internal Medicine physician with over 14 years of experience in General Internal Medicine in both inpatient and outpatient settings .Prior to moving to Brevard County, Dr. Gorthi practiced Primary Care in Overland Park ,Kansas and had a long tenure with one the areas top healthcare System. She completed h... er medical school in 2002 from Madras Medical college and Research Institute an Ivy league medical school in India .She was among the top 1% of applicants who were accepted into this institution based on academic merit . Dr. Gorthi completed a Residential Internship at Government General Hospital, Chennai. She practiced primary care for few years before moving to the United States for higher training .She completed her Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at University of Alabama ,Birmingham in 2010 where she was recognized for her excellent care of geriatric population.She also served as a member of the Internal Medicine Committee ,Ethics committee at Baptist Medical Center ,Montgomery and the Resident Selection Committee for the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in Montgomery, AL. She also worked as attending physician/hospitalist at Baptist Health System, Montgomery, AL. Her exemplary compassionate care to acutely ill patients in the hospital setting was recognized and she was awarded the Fellowship in Hospital Medicine by Society of Hospital Medicine. She has received numerous awards for community service during her tenure as a hospitalist initially and later a Primary Care Physician. This highly experienced clinician worked as a research assistant as well at UABInternal Medicine clinic. Her work has been published in Clinical Infectious Diseases and she has made presentations before the American College of Physicians and the Society of General Internal Medicine.
