Rethreads

Rethreads is a locally-owned consignment clothing store in the city of Charlottesville, Virginia. Located in the vibrant mixed-use community of McIntire Plaza, just a mile from the downtown mall, the multi-room boutique-style shop offers a curated selection of new and gently-used clothing and accessories for women and men of all sizes, plus jewelry... , shoes, bags, and more. It also offers eco-friendly greeting cards, whimsical socks, fashion sunglasses, and handmade goods by local artisans. Established in 2013 by C'ville entrepreneur Melissa Meece, Rethreads has consistently been voted one of the top consignment shopping destinations in the region. In late 2019, the store was purchased by sisters Ann Ray and Dawn Hanson, both long-time Rethreads customers and consignors. Since taking over the business, the new owners have focused on refreshing and expanding the store's eclectic and affordable inventory, especially in menswear and clothing for plus-size women. Ann and Dawn are also working to update the consignment processes as well as the look of the shop, while maintaining it's fun, friendly and casual vibe. The Rethreads staff and its community of consignors and customers share the eco-friendly mission of finding new homes for items people no longer wear. As part of our commitment of extending the life cycle of clothing, we donate unsold merchandise to local nonprofit thrift stores and organizations for reuse, resale or upcycling.
