Founded in 1990 by Abdallah Jamal, RELATIVE FORM Architecture Studio continues to be a small and dynamic Architecture, Planning and Interior Design office. While our primary objective has been to explore the development of appropriate design prototypes for peoples of Muslim societies living in the Western world, over our 20 years in existence we ha... ve extended our concerns to a much wider audience, addressing the cultural, historical and psychological propriety of design for a diverse client base. Drawing from the talents of a young team with experience in multifamily housing, custom homes, jamatkhanas, commercial buildings, retail tenancies and hospitality projects, RFAS maintains its vibrant approach to problem solving through creative design solutions that are tailored tightly to the needs and the expectations of both the client and the end user. In recent years, we have developed a particular expertise in refurbishing early 20th century heavy timber structures, which blends well with our interest in the preservation of historic continuity in the built environment. Our project sizes range from as small as 500 square feet to as large as 150,000 square feet and beyond. When the need arises, RFAS collaborates with other architects to provide efficient and timely service to our clients. In dealing with the delicate public process associated with larger projects our approach is to work hand in hand with the authorities having jurisdiction, navigating the project to meet the goals of both our clients and the authorities. We endeavour to cultivate the best possible relationship between clients and authorities. We also encourage our clients and assist them in keeping their project's neighbourhood informed of its status and of its potential positive impacts.
