Redemption Church started over forty years ago with a group of twenty-one believers meeting in a home in Knoxville. In November of 19... 78 Ed and Nora King took a step of faith to formally found the church with a heart to make an impact in the city of Knoxville and around the world! Pastor Ed King had been serving at Melodyland School of Theology in California when, through a series of miraculous events, he heard the Lord's call to return to his hometown of Knoxville and found a church. After diligent prayer and with no money, no people and no building, Pastors Ed and Nora took a leap of faith and followed the Lord's call. God honored their faith and within two weeks they had outgrown the living room where they began. During the next three years, growth was so rapid that soon they had moved into meeting rooms in two different hotels, the Andrew Johnson and Best Western, a 7-Eleven convenience store and a former Methodist Church. Only one week before the lease was up at the Methodist church the present home of Redemption Church became available and, during the last service there, the new location on Pleasant Ridge Road was announced. Through the years, radical transformation has taken place, not only in the building and property, but in the hearts of the people as well.
