Real/Time Communications was founded as an engineering firm specializing in the design of digital telephony products, modems, computers, and other related items. The online services we supplied was to expand on the vision we had as to what the future of communications was. We were the first ISP in Austin, and may have been the first in Texas. Real/... Time has had to be innovative in order to be first, because in the early days there was no ISP hardware to buy. We designed our own terminal server, and many other of the items needed to operate the service. Most of these devices are still in use today. Our software experience covers many operating systems including UNIX, Msdos, MacOS, the various Windows products, and many obscure operating systems. Real/Time has also been heavily involved in networking in general, and have designed networking tools and hardware ranging from complete systems, to software to monitor systems. The experience that went into being the first is only a start. We have participated in the growth of the Internet as a pioneer, and a role model.
