About Raasay Community Renewables
Raasay Community Renewables (RCR) is a Community Benefit Society established by the residents of the Isle of Raasay to develop and operate two community-owned hydro-electric generation schemes. These schemes, the 99KW Inverarish Burn Hydro and the 38KW Mine Burn Hydro, aim to generate an estimated 520,000kWh of electricity annually, contributing to a sustainable future for the island. The initiative is expected to provide community benefit payments that will support local projects, with projections indicating an increase from approximately £6,000 in 2024 to £28,000 by 2031.
