PT Parna Raya

THE PARNA RAYA GROUP was established and owned by an Indonesian Family in Indonesia. The group started in the early 1960's, as PT. Parna Raya, with a single truck, transporting goods off ships in Tanjung Priok port, Jakarta, Indonesia. PT. Parna Raya then slowly and steadily grew from small trucking business to a very substantially large fleet of 1... 25 units of semi trailers and trontons today. At the same time opportunity arose to expand into sea transportation business. Hence, the founder invested in sea-going vessels to transport bulk and bagged cement, fertilizers (Urea) and other commodities produced by Indonesian state-owned companies. In the mid 1980 opportunity also arose in commodity trades. The Founder ventured into commodity trades including chemical fertilizers, pine pulpwood, Australian high-grade industrial solar salt and others. Moreover, in the mid 1990s, a brilliant opportunity enabled the Founder to secure a purchase of natural gas that eventually gave birth to the only Indonesian privately owned and freehold ammonia manufacturing plant situated in Bontang, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. This opportunity was timely seized by the Founder since he foresaw a bright future in gas supply and an entry into an industry-based business, as opposed to a trading business. The Ammonia plant was then constructed and PT. Kaltim Parna Industri was established as a joint-venture with Mitsubishi Corporation and PT. Pupuk Kaltim's Retirement Fund Foundation, with annual production capacity of over 500,000 metric tonnes of anhydrous ammonia. The Ammonia Plant was commissioned and successfully commenced its commercial production in early 2002. Most of the ammonia produced is exported to other parts in both South East and Far East Asia.
