Project Success Academy

Project Success Academy offers students an opportunity to improve their academic abilities. During the past ten years, Modesto City School students have experienced significant demographic changes. Language, Cultural, Gender, and Social needs must be addressed in order to respond to the underlying social and intellectual quotient of this multicultu... ral population. Students are not receiving the skills needed to cope within this diverse academic environment. The schools have not synthesized an effective response to this prevailing need. Schools are designed to teach children social and academic skills to help prepare them for life. Children need to learn how to work, play and cooperate with each other. Evidence suggests that when these skills are missing a significant number of the children never learn how to read, write and calculate well enough to be successful in life. They end up being suspended from their schools and eventually locked up behind the walls of the bulging juvenile system. Project Success emerged out of the need of African American/Minority students and their parents' commitment to create a community-based support system designed to fill that missing curriculum and prevent their children from falling into the uncovered gap in the school system.Read More
