Profilm was founded in 1990 in Reykjavk, Iceland, as a film and television production company. One of Profilms first projects was to film a documentary in Japan about Icelandic singer Björk and her band at the time, The Sugarcubes. The documentary was shown worldwide. Profilm has been fortunate enough to work for some of the leading television stat... ions in the world including the BBC, Discovery Channel, MTV, Canal+, Animal planet, DR1, TV2, ITV, Channel 4, ZDF and many more. Profilm has filmed and produced over 40 documentaries and well over a hundred individual television programmes. Profilm has also produced television commercials and corporate videos. Profilm has participated in the production of two feature films; Young Love and The Hottest Day of the Year which won several prizes around the world. Profilm deals with every kind of production, location management or scouting. Our diversity enables us to handle documentaries, streaming media for the internet, DVD production,TV commercials and feature films. The vast and beautiful nature of Iceland is unique in Europe and even in the entire world. Relatively easy access to locations in Iceland makes it possible to cover anything between glaciers and mountains to beaches and islands in a matter of few hours. Extremes to your choosing. Are offered for film and TV production costs incurred in Iceland. Producers can apply for reimbursements from the State Treasury of 20% of the costs incurred in the production of films and television programs in Iceland. When more than 80% of the total production cost of a motion picture or television program is incurred in Iceland, the reimbursement is calculated on the basis of the total production cost incurred within the European Economic Area.
