As a top-down, bottom-up initiative, our entry criteria aline with that of the Guilds and working with Agents means that not only can we help their clients have greater visibility, but also be an invaluable resource for them when crewing up and collaborating on their own projects. Agents can always be the point of contact for our members. There are... many bottlenecks in our Industry for women, especially women of colour and other protected characteristics, that we do not want visibility to be one of them. That is why vetted members will always be able to curate their profiles, upload CVs and links to work and be searchable by employers for free. To combat unconscious bias we have decided to keep the platform free from profile pictures, we want your work to speak for itself. And not only is it a noble aim to give young people role models but it also just makes financial sense: Female-penned projects on average quadruple their return on investment, especially with budgets over £20m*, so it is hard to understand why there continues to be a disconnect between financiers and the projects being made. Women should no longer be seen as risky or indeed part of a "diversity quota". We also know that Black directors fill 44.5% of all onscreen speaking or named roles with Black actors vs. 11.3% if non-Black directors. The same can be said of Asian directors: 41.6% vs. only 6.7% if non-Asian directors. Who tells the story informs the stories we tell and we all need to join forces and work towards an Industry where everyone can see themselves represented at every level.
