Jerry Raines and Corbin Moffitt teamed up and realized there was a need for a custom powder coater in the Triad area of North Carolina. Formerly, Jerry was the supervisor of a powder coating line and Corbin was the leader of a welding department at a medical equipment manufacturing plant in Greensboro. After taking a year of doing market research,... designing and locating equipment, they took the step and decided to start up a powder coating operation. The first facility was in a 7800 square foot building, with one 28-foot powder booth and a 28-foot oven. Later a smaller powder booth was added to the facility. After five years of substantial growth, they made plans to open a larger operation. It took nine months to renovate and install all new equipment in their present operation at 1948 N. Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC. Premier Powder Coating, Inc. is now housed in a 30,000 square foot building with a 60 x 24 side loading dock, two 30 ovens and three powder booths (two are 32 long and one is 16), and a new air system that includes a twin tower regenerative air dryer. In November of 1999, all operations were moved to our present location. In 2007, Premier Powder Coating, Inc., installed a 32 enclosed blast booth with a dedicated air system. This decision was made due to the logistics and scheduling problems with outsourcing blasting for paint and rust removal. This advantage enabled us to provide our customers the ability to blast steel products to a bright metal finish that enhances our pretreatment system.
