Since our beginnings, Precision Vision has always been at the front of the industry. In the 1980s, the U.S. National Eye Institute needed tools to standardize visual acuity measurements for what would become the Early Treatment for Diabetic Retinopathy Study, or ETDRS. Together with the NEI, Precision Vision developed the visual acuity charts and t... he first ETDRS illuminator cabinet used in that study. The ETDRS illuminator cabinet and vision testing charts have become the international standard for clinical trials and research still used today for visual acuity testing. We continued to work with the NEI to develop the first commercially viable trans-illumination cabinets and eye charts that made the ETDRS vision testing method available for an even broader audience. Flash forward to today. We're still on top and continuing to innovate and redefine industry standards.
