Porta d'Oriente is a real estate and tourist agency developed some years ago by a local business woman from Calitri. The aim of the business is to offer a flexible, responsive service to Italian and foreign customers alike, who are keen to make a safe and fruitful investment in an area of outstanding beauty that has yet to be truly discovered. My n... ame is Emma Basile and I am a fully qualified, registered estate agent with Avellino's Chamber of Commerce and FIAIP (the nationally recognised association of estate agents in Italy). I studied for a degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences at the L'Orientale, University of Naples, and then successfully achieved a Master's degree in "Land marketing and tourism" in Milan, returning to Avellino to complete my studies with a Certificate in Real Estate. I am fluent in English. My family has lived in the town of Calitri for many, many generations and I am very well known and trusted in the area. I am very proud of my town, its people and its warm Italian culture. I am the only real estate agent in the town and enjoy an excellent reputation for customer care with local people and foreign purchasers alike. The name of the business, Porta d'Oriente, is based on Calitri's historic importance for many centuries. The history of the area can be traced back to ancient times when people from the Orient passed through the various towns in order to reach destinations in Rome and northern Italian regions. There is evidence of knights, merchants, soldiers all having journeyed through the region in times gone by. The towns and villages are steeped in ancient history all waiting to be explored.
