Pittsburgh Thunderbirds

The Pittsburgh Thunderbirds is a professional Ultimate Frisbee (Disc) franchise in the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL). The team is part of the Midwestern Division and plays against the Cincinnati Revolution, Indianapolis AlleyCats, Madison Radicals, Minnesota Wind Chill, Chicago Wildfire, and the Detroit Mechanix. The AUDL's 14-game season co... mmences in April and end with the AUDL Championship in early August. Our mission is to grow interest in Ultimate Disc in the Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania regions, develop an elite team of athletes, encourage participation in the sport through community involvement, and provide fans with high entertainment for an excellent value. We will work to improve visibility of the sport in the region and promote youth participation in recreational and competitive environments. Our vision is for Pittsburgh to become nationally recognized in the Ultimate community. We want Ultimate Frisbee to become a staple in academic, recreational, and competitive environments for youth and adolescents. The Thunderbirds will become a regionally recognized team by major media outlets and by Pittsburgh sports fans. Pittsburgh is a hotbed for Ultimate. The city may be small by population, but it's big by passion. Here, success starts with introductory youth programs, rises with middle and high school development, climbs higher with championship college programs, and takes off with national-caliber club teams. This progressive system is a source of pride for the community and will help the Thunderbirds succeed at the professional level.
