Since the 1840s, Piper Alderman has been the leading provider of legal services to the South Australian business community and today, Piper Alderman is a national practice with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. In 1998, under the leadership of Gordon Grieve (now Chairman of Partners); Piper Alderman began its national expansion by opening an office in Sydney. In the subsequent 20 years, Piper Alderman's Sydney office has grown from fledgling beginnings to establish itself as a market leader in its chosen practice areas. The firm has maintained its tier one status and size in the Adelaide market, while at the same time the Piper Alderman Sydney office has outgrown its parent to become the largest office in terms of revenue in the firm's national offering.
