PIMA Group

PIMA Group is a collaborative performance group founded in 2001 by Michael Barker, Thomas Clark and Melisa Putz interested in developing new processes and approaches to the integration of dance, music, video and visual art. PIMA Group explores the edges of related arts in work ranging from improvisational performance art work to more formal choreog... raphed and composed pieces. All three artists are Fine Art Graduates from Kutztown University's Related Arts program and currently reside in West Philadelphia. PIMA Group has performed at various theaters, venues and festivals throughout Boston, Baltimore, New York City and Philadelphia. Including the Improvised and Otherwise Festival in Brooklyn, NY, a collection of performances by some of the finest experimental musicians and dancers working in the field of improvised performances and most recently as part of the 2003 Philadelphia Fringe Festival at the Table Space Gallery. PIMA Group has received Temple University Space Grants to assist in the development of new work and funding support through the Philadelphia Cultural Fund. PIMA Group's programming strives to provide a fresh approach to the experience of performance art through collaborations with new and established artists.
