Peter Brooke-Ball has been making sculpture for more than 40 years but it is his recent pieces that have ignited the interest of art collectors around the world, from London to New York, Toronto to Florence, from Edinburgh to Budapest. He has pared away youthful affectations and distilled his work to express pure, frighteningly honest ideas. Much of Peters output is deceptively uncomplicated. On a superficial level, his sculptures are sensual and beautiful objects that demand to be stroked and handled. But they are also disturbing. Or sexy. Or playful. And many hint at sinister undertones of cruelty and violence. They tickle those base emotions and desires in all of us that we would rather keep under wraps, undisturbed. Peter was educated at four art colleges and Exeter University before moving into publishing in order to earn a living. He is the author of 14 published non-fiction books. On returning to his first love, sculpture, he was elected a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and developed a passion for geology, taking a BSc in Earth Sciences at the Open University.
