Terry Knighton is a Midland, Texas based consulting geophysicist that specializes in unconventional resource development using seismic and microseismic data to characterize fracture systems and reservoir properties, to guide horizontal drilling, and to investigate potential drilling hazards. Prior to forming Permian Seismic Consulting, Terry worked... for EOG Resources on the Delaware Basin unconventional resources team that initiated development of multiple reservoirs using horizontal drilling technology in the Bone Spring and Wolfcamp formations in the Redhills area of Lea Co., New Mexico and in the Zena area of Reeves Co., Texas. He spent the first 27 years of his career with Cities Service / Occidental working on conventional plays in a variety of plays and geologic settings that include the Permian Basin, Gulf of Mexico (Deepwater and Shelf Subsalt), the Ouachita Trend (Arkoma, Black Warrior, Val Verde Kerr Basins), East Texas, and the Paradox Basin. Terry is a second generation doodlebugger whose father was a shot hole driller on Cities Service Oil Companys seismic crews. After graduating from high school in Kermit, Texas, Terry attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1980 with a BS degree in Geology and minor in Geophysics. He is a registered Texas Professional Geoscientist. Terrys professional affiliations are with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, West Texas Geological Society, and the Permian Basin Geophysical Society of which he served as President in 2014. Terry is married and has two adult children. He is a Christian and is active in various ministries in his church and the community. He is a board member of Rock the Desert Ministries and Terry and his wife lead the headquarters team during the annual three day Christian music festival.
