Peninsula Productions produce professional quality theatre. Our past seasons have included comedies like the Canadian premiere of Ken Ludwig's The Game's Afoot and hard hitting dramas like Death and the Maiden by Ariel Dorfman. In 2015 we created a Staged Reading Series in the hopes of catering to an audience that would like to see theatre that is... more challenging. In 2017 we will be producing a newly commissioned play about the history of White Rock. This brand new Canadian play will celebrate the 150th Birthday of Canada! We present professional concerts annually including classical, swing, jazz, blues and gospel music. In addition, we look to provide a stage for world music to serve the Peninsula's culturally diverse population and to introduce our audiences to new forms of music from exceptionally talented artists. Previously featured artists have included Red Chamber, Ensemble Galilei, Borealis String Quartet, John Lee Sanders, Lache Cercel and the Roma Swing Ensemble, Musica Intima, and The Vancouver Bach Choir. Peninsula Productions also presents children's entertainment. For the 2014 season, we brought popular children's entertainer Jacky Essombe to the Peninsula to entertain an enthusiastic group of young children and their parents. Previously, we presented Explorer Idol, which uses music to entertain and inform children about Canadian history, and the Vancouver Opera's touring production of Hansel and Gretel and The Barber of Barkerville. We believe in giving back. Regularly we give tickets to people who would not otherwise be able to attend performances. We also believe in sharing knowledge and expertise. Community players and interested young people are given the opportunity to work alongside professional theatre artists, experienced directors, producers and technical support people. Our Artistic Director, Wendy Bollard, received the 2013 Surrey Women in Business award as an Innovator and was named as a "Community Inspiration" by the City of White Rock.
