About PDSL
PDSL was founded in 1983 by Rod Smith. Our first office was established in Holtye Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex. At this time our main line of business was a disc format translation service and distribution of CP/M public domain software. As the PC and MS-DOS took over from CP/M, computing became much more accessible to non-technical users. With this, our business expanded rapidly and by mid-1986 we had to move to larger premises in Crowborough, East Sussex. At this time Rod was joined by Neil Blaber, a recent Computer Science graduate. With changes in technology, the focus of our business moved to almost exclusively PC software and from floppy disk distribution to CDROM. (We were the first UK company to distribute a public domain and shareware library on CDROM.) In 1992 we formed a partnership with San Francisco-based company Walnut Creek CD ROM.
