For five years the Pattaya Gay Festival has, with the help of a small and informal organizing committee, run a series of fund-raising events to help and support local charities. For three years the committee has also relied on members to run events, an initiative introduced in 2003 which has proved to be greatly beneficial to PGF funds. In the seco... nd half of 2005 the Committee felt confident enough to increase monthly contributions to the HIV/Aids organization Heartt 2000 by 25% without jeopardizing PGF's balances and with the assurance that the new figure of 250,000 baht per month would be sustainable not only for the year ahead but also for the following year (2006). This increase in funding has been attainable through increased support from gay and non-gay businesses and members of PGF and significant personal contributions received throughout the year from a number of individuals as will be mentioned in the Treasurer's Report. During 2005 and following the death of Ian McKnight, General Manager of Le Café Royale who did much unheralded work for PGF behind the scenes especially in regard to Boyz Town street parties, we received a substantial legacy from his executors under the terms of his will - the third such donation made under similar circumstances since 2002. It is therefore not inappropriate for the Committee to ask all of its members and supporters to consider including similar donations when finalizing the disposition of their estates in the future. Funding for Heartt 2000 has increased during the past five years although donations have been made to other causes and the Committee is willing to consider requests for held when approached. However the prime concern remains of supporting the work of Dr Philippe Seur and Dr Jureerat, work which has and will continue to increase.
