Well, our explanation is grounded in the belief that the Westside of Paso Robles has the potential for producing dry-farmed grapes on soils which parallel, in all important quality parameters, to the premier, wine-producing areas throughout Europe and the wine-producing world. Steve Glossner, as a time-tested Paso Robles wine consultant, possesses an impressive resume dating back nearly two decades, to producing award-winning wines from estate vineyards throughout the Paso Robles appellation. Now, focused on producing fortified dessert wines and table wines for his own label, Steve hopes to start a new chapter in the history of winegrowing in the Paso Robles area. PasoPorts' wine program focuses on four distinctive blends. The flagship blend, Violeta, is produced exclusively from traditional Portuguese varietals. The blending proportions may change slightly with each vintage, but the core of the wines' style remains consistent. This wine pays homage to the finest Port wines produced in the Douro Valley. The second blend, Ruby, pays homage to the history of port-style wine production in California. The centerpiece of Ruby is Zinfandel, which will always remain a true Californian varietal.
