Parrot Tree

Hi There, and welcome to my blog about living with parrots. My name is Hannah J. Oliver. Once upon a time, I worked as an avian biologist. So basically I was a zookeeper with a university degree, and I looked after lots and lots of birds. It was great and wonderful and fascinating, but animal care is not exactly a field with a whole lot of opportun... ity for growthand like many others before me, I learned that, for a lot of reasons, it just isnt a job you can do forever. I feel lucky, though, to be one of those people with more than one true calling. For me, it was always animals and writing. These days, Ive moved on to my second career as a freelance editor and writer. But Ive not left my passion for birds behind me. And that is why I started Parrot Tree. I wanted a place where I could gather and share some of the things Ive learned over the years, a place where I could reflect on my experiences, and a place where I could be an advocate for parrots and the issues they face as exotic animals living amongst humans.
