Paremata School

The school operates an enrolment scheme with a maximum roll of 410 pupils. The school has 16 teaching spaces (in 5 separate blocks), a hall, library, after school care facility, medical room, store rooms, senior and junior adventure playgrounds, concrete play areas and a grassed field. There is parental, caregiver and wider family involvement in th... e running of the school. This involves school lunches, sporting activities, transportation for various trips, in-class support, fund raising etc. Although we have an enrolment scheme in place we sometimes have spaces available for children from outside of our zone. Therefore our school community differs from our local community in that it extends well beyond the local Paremata area. Some children travel to Paremata School from outlying areas; from the neighbouring suburbs of Whitby and Papakowhai and also from distances of up to 10 km's from districts such as Plimmerton, Pauatahanui, Titahi Bay, Porirua, and Pukerua Bay Thus, many of our students live within communities different from the local community in which the school is situated. There is a bus service and bus/rail link used by a number of children getting to and from school. One bus comes from Pauatahanui via Whitby, through Oak Avenue, Kahu Road, Papakowhai and returning the same way in the afternoons. The school has a decile rating of 9.
