Following market demand, the directors took the decision to invest in its first white-maize mill operation which was successfully implemented during 2002. The mill is ideally situated in close proximity to the East London harbour which allows for efficient importing and transport of raw materials via road transport and through its dedicated rail-li... nk to the company's silos. From inception, the company has enjoyed a steady year-on-year increase in its production. During 2009, the company added a second wheat mill to the plant and made extensive upgrades to existing equipment to meet increasing demand. Currently, the milling operation has a monthly production capacity of processing 10,000 tons of wheat and 4,500 tons of white-maize. Paramount Mills operates with the main emphasis being the manufacture and delivery of high quality, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG). Paramount Mills currently produces wheat products, white maize products and a large variety of biscuits from our on-site biscuit factory and imports quality yeast, pasta and instant noodles. Products are packed in both our own brands as well as house brands for numerous national retail chains, bakeries and wholesalers. In addition to our Food Safety Audit, Paramount Mills was also awarded its Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certificate in September 2012. The HACCP award promoted Paramount Mills to a new level with major retailers and bakeries throughout the country. The end result has been a massive growth in business with spin-offs such as increased employment and more investment within our local community.
