These are the skills necessary for students be able to learn to read by the time they reach 3rd grade. In 2nd and 3rd grade the company also introduce explicit instruction in text dependant analysis and text dependant writing. Students' progress is monitored through their mastery of the skills being taught and local assessments, such as DIBELS 8 an... d iREADY diagnostic assessments. In math, the company adopted a new curriculum for 2021-2022 called Ready Classroom Math. This set of instructional materials has a technology component to support student learning. The emphasis is on developing a mathematical mindset, while still practicing functional skills. The company has a Positive Behavior Support Program at the school. This program encourages students to be Cool Cats! The company's three character traits that are taught throughout the school are Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful. Students are given direct instruction on what these expectations look like across all settings. Students are given Cool Cat tickets when they demonstrate behavior that shows one or more of these expectations. Each day, one student is selected as the Cool Cat of the Day by a staff member. This student has their picture taken with the principal and shared out on the company's Facebook page. They also get a positive phone call home from the principal.
