Pam Timm has lived on the Florida gulf coast for more than forty years. Shes an enamel artist creating wearable pieces of art and decorative ornamentation. Utilizing several different techniques of this medium, she oftentimes combines other skills in metalworking and lampworking as an accent. There were lots of docks to fish from, plenty of boats to climb in and out of, alligators in the canals, and loads of fun to have as a kid. Always being outdoors helped to cultivate a love of natural presence. Sketching, drawing and painting have always been a solace while growing up. Being able to bring to life on paper what is seen or imagined has been an expressive outlet of freedom. Having a strong affinity for working with her hands and learning how things are made and function, bring about creative thinking as part of the process for artistic endeavors; nature and beauty married with function and movement are intriguing characteristics. A creative spark ignited during a trip to a local bead shop. The intricate detail of the glass lampwork beads drew her into wanting to know more about the art form; researching and reading about the history and creative process. Initially teaching herself basic lampworking, she wanted to learn more techniques and different uses of this medium. Taking classes from experienced masters in their own right helped solidify an appreciation of working with molten glass. Investing in metal working skills like soldering and forging became a necessity when incorporating glass into pieces of jewelry This opened up an opportunity to become introduced to enameling specifically Cloisonné by James Carter. Of all the enameling techniques, Cloisonné is the hardest to master if thats even possible! It takes a centered mind to be able to work 24K gold and fine silver ribbons.
