Pace Prints

Pace Prints was founded in 1968 to provide artists with resources and facilities to create and exhibit fine art limited edition prints and multiples. The first Pace Prints project, Lucas Samarass Book , set the creative standard and ambition for our printmaking workshops to break boundaries and expand the parameters of printmaking that have continu... ed over the past 50 years. At the Pace Prints printmaking workshops in Manhattan, master printers collaborate with artists in selecting and printing in mediums that are best suited to fulfill the artists intentions, including a variety of processes including etching, woodcut, linocut, ukiyo-e style woodcut, and others. The workshop traces its lineage back to master printer Aldo Crommelynck, who was, for decades, the printer of Pablo Picassos etchings. Crommelynck established during his years at Pace Prints both the philosophy and mythology and the technical virtuosity of collaboration between artist and printer that exists to this day. At the Pace Paper workshop in Gowanus Brooklyn, the pioneering legacy of Joe Wilfer and Ruth Lingen in the use of handmade paper as a printmaking medium continues to inspire artists.
