Ouray Silversmiths

Founded by Melanie Kline as a small studio with a retail front, the business began to grow quickly as clients came back over and over to see how Melanie's imagination captured life in the Uncompaghre Valley and immortalized it in precious metals. As the need for more space became apparent, Ouray Silversmiths purchased a building in Montrose, CO to... serve as the primary workshop and second retail front. As the Kline family moved to Montrose full time, the Ouray location was closed but never forgotten. Joshua Kline began helping his mother both to create new and exciting designs as well as expand the business in 2003. With his help, Ouray Silversmiths grew rapidly while retaining its integrity and respect for the amazing environment that surrounded it. At this point the whole family was helping to build an amazing name for themselves. Dan Kline was busy creating beautiful jewelry alongside his brother and mother as well as helping to expand their marketing assets. And Josh's wife, Chena Kline, was making each client feel welcomed and appreciated as she took care of the the sales floor. Knowing that her company was in good hands, Melanie retired from Ouray Silversmiths in 2011 to pursue other creative and charitable efforts. She opened a teaching studio, called High Grade Silver Studios, to pass along her knowledge to another generation. She also started Welcome Home Montrose, which helps create resources for all those brave veterans as they come back from overseas to our communities. Josh Kline took over the business and continues his family's legacy of creating beautiful, original designs as well as their deep involvement in their community. Ouray Silversmiths continues to design and fabricate all of their original designs, as well as handling all kinds of repairs for gold and silver jewelry.
