From the beginning of Dr Oldfields sp... ecialist training, Geoff has been an innovator, especially in the development of cardiac echo, ultrasound diagnostics and angiography, having established echo services in 1982 with Newcastle & Hunter Cardiac Services, before that at Royal Newcastle Hospital and cardiac catheterisation at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital in 1985. Its perhaps in the relationship with general practitioners and physicians, however, that Geoffs pioneering nature comes to the fore. "Im available to my medical colleagues 24/7, because that means better care of the patient, and better outcomes!" Its this desire to achieve better patient outcomes that still drives Dr Oldfield. He attends and contributes to specialist cardiac conferences around the world, to assess the latest research so it can be applied as soon as possible to the care of his patients. Because of his skills and deep experience in both medical and interventional management of cardiac patients, Geoff brings a wide perspective on suggesting the right treatment for each individual patient. His professional interests range from renal denervation in intractable hypertension, the medical and invasive management of heart disease, and the use of echocardiography in systolic and diastolic heart failure.
