Mat has 16+ years of experience working in the building trades and holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from MassArt . Mat brings his eye for design to every project, which is why OBWI is known for its innovative designs and great attention to detail. Mat started OBrien Wood & Iron in 2008 in order to provide clients with honest and highly crafted builds... . Other than art and design, his background includes a love of Historic Restoration and an interest in high efficiency and sustainable building practices. When not cheerfully interacting with the day to day operations of the business, Mat spends his time with his lovely wife, two daughters and his pup in and around the woods of Maine, while also slowly pursuing his Masters Degree in Architecture. Kristen has been working in the building trades for over 20 years. She first found her way into construction when she go a job cleaning-out jobsites while she was in art school. Once she started in the construction industry, she was hooked. She spent 2 years as a painter and 10 years as a carpenter before going back to school to earn her degree in Project Management. As OBrien Wood & Irons Estimator and Project Manager, Kristen has a hand in every project we take on. When shes not crunching numbers or managing people and projects, Kristen enjoys traveling, bicycling, working on her own home, and dogsitting for Mats adorable black lab, Zara. Dave has worked in the construction industry for a decade. Before becoming an architect, he spent time as a carpenter, running his own design-build business. As OBWIs in-house architectural designer, Dave has experience taking projects from the conceptual design phase through construction administration. In shepherding projects from inception to completion, Dave has discovered his greatest strengths stem from collaboration and communication with clients, contractors, and consultants.
