We partner with schools and organizations around the world to design, develop and deploy our unique studio-based curriculum across grades K-12. In 2010, our vision was to create a dynamic Innovation Center for students coming from diverse schools. Students worked on real-world challenges with creativity, critical thinking and collaboration at the h... eart of our pedagogy. In the first year of our program, all of our students were Beaver high schoolers who came to NuVu for a trimester-long experience. Within the last decade, NuVu has become a leader in creative education, bringing hands-on studio learning to students globally. Its full-time Innovation School and growing network of NuVuX partner schools provide students the opportunity to address the biggest challenges facing our world, while fostering relevant problem-solving skills. NuVu students explore real world topics in a hands-on studio environment. Using our design process, students solve complex challenges using creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Studios are multi-disciplinary and may require robotics, coding, fabrication, electronics, or a variety of other technological skills. Each studio begins with an introduction of the Studio Brief. The Studio Brief provides the overall topic of inquiry and specific parameters within which students will explore their ideas. Our Coaches use brainstorming as a way for students to develop initial project ideas and connect these ideas to larger concepts and themes. Brainstorming takes place at different points in the studio process and includes individual, team-based, and group-based methods. Throughout the design process, students research the history, cultural context and future implications of what they are making. This research allows students to understand the project context, connect directly with experts, challenge their assumptions, and generate ideas that help them think broadly about the topic.
