Nuclear Fuel Complex, established in 1969, operates as a critical industrial unit under India's Department of Atomic Energy. Specializing in the manufacturing of nuclear fuel bundles and reactor core components, the organization integrates natural and enriched uranium processing with zirconium alloy cladding production. This unique facility ensures the secure containment of radioactive fission products within hermetically sealed zirconium alloy tubes, supporting the nation's nuclear energy infrastructure.

The facility currently maintains a production capacity of 250 tons of uranium dioxide per year, with strategic plans to scale operations to 600 tons annually. Each 220 MW PHWR fuel bundle utilizes 15.2 kg of natural uranium dioxide. By manufacturing zircaloy clad uranium oxide fuel assemblies and structural components, the complex serves all 14 operating atomic power reactors across India, maintaining rigorous standards for nuclear safety and material integrity.

With a workforce of 1,000-5,000 employees, the organization provides essential components to the Department of Atomic Energy, the Indian Navy, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Beyond defense, the complex supports chemical, fertilizer, and ball-bearing industries through its specialized fabrication capabilities.
