Both Schools are Church of England VC Primary Schools maintained by Somerset Local Authority. Our schools have a real family atmosphere, where everyone is valued and cared for. Our older pupils enjoy working alongside the younger ones and play an important part in helping our new children to settle happily during their first few months at school. N... orton Sub Hamdon Primary School is set in lovely grounds and with views of the church and Ham Hill, it was opened in March 1997. It has four classrooms, all in permanent accommodation which surrounds the central library and open learning area. There is also a large and well equipped hall, used for P.E., Collective worship and dining. Outside, there are large play grounds and grass areas. We are very proud of our school and its surroundings and encourage everyone to take good care of both. Our pupils are aged between 4 and 11 years, and as is typical of most small village schools the four classes have children of mixed ages which we see as a real positive aspect of the educational experience. We have approximately 120 pupils at the school. At Norton, we also run a Breakfast Club. The Club is based in the Group Room and you can drop your children from 8.00am onwards. Payment is £3.00 per child plus £1.00 for breakfast (toast, cereal and a drink). Breakfast is optional. Please notify us of any allergies or Intolerances. Payment will be cash on the door or you can book the sessions per half term and pay the office directly, please see the office for a booking form. The club is run by Stephanie Brimble. Built in 1833, West Chinnock Primary School serves mainly West Chinnock and the neighbouring village of Middle Chinnock. These are quiet, attractive villages in rural Somerset, located between Yeovil and Crewkerne. It has lovely grounds, giving the children many opportunities to work outside the classroom.
