Northern Carers Network

Northern Carers Network was established in 1995 in response to the expressed needs of Carers in the community with funding received through the Home and Community Care Program. Then auspice under the Elizabeth City Council it was known as the Northern Suburbs Carer's Network with Carers well represented on the steering committee. Support was receiv... ed from Gawler, Munno Para, Salisbury and Tea Tree Gully Councils. On the 16th of June 1997 Northern Carers Network became incorporated with 60% of Board members represented by Carers in the region with approx 150 members. Today Northern Carers Network is a not for profit organisation governed by a Board of Management and funded through the State and Federal Government to provide support to Carers living in the northern metropolitan region of Adelaide, extending from the Town of Gawler to the City of Pt Adelaide/ Enfield. Northern Carers Network adheres to the Carer Support Model which is based on grassroots, community development principles with our centre being locally based, Carer driven, and providing flexible and responsive support to assist Carers in maintaining their health and well-being so they can continue in their caring role.
