North East Shared Services Project

NESSP is a not for profit collaborative partnership comprising of 4 colleges in the North East region and is one of the most exciting and innovative projects in today's Further Education Sector. At a time when there is a need to produce savings across the public sector in the face of massive budget cuts, this project offers a route to a significant... part of the solution and will form a toolkit to help others embarking on similar projects. Procurement is an important area which has been implemented and shared across the partnership. With a total turnover of almost £100 million, in excess of 43,000 students per year and over 1,200 apprenticeships, the partners provide training and services to a wide range of sectors, in addition to more traditional further education delivery. Some colleges work in partnership with universities to deliver degree level courses such as Foundation degrees.
