Norman Thomas High School

Norman Thomas High School has been involved in the NYC Department of Education's initiative of restructuring large high schools into small learning communities. This was done to help create pathways between high school and post secondary education and continuing into the workplace. All our career-themed academies operate as a small school within a... large school and typically enroll approximately 125-150 students per grade. Our Career Academies are organized around the following themes: Accounting, Tourism/Hospitality, Marketing and Information Technology. Academy students take classes together, remain with the same group of teachers over time, follow a curriculum that includes both academic and career-oriented courses, participate in work internships with one of our many business partners and take part in other career-related experiences inside and outside the classroom. Improving the rigor of academic and career-related curricula has become an increasingly prominent part of our agenda, leading to Regents diplomas with a Career & Technical Education endorsement upon graduation.Read More
