He is married to his beautiful wife, Bree, and has two boys, ages 12 and 5. He grew up on a farm, raising crops and Charolais cattle, and routinely accompanied his father and grandfather on rotating "rounds" at local hospitals. His family has been involved in the creation of many small businesses in the community for more than six generations, incl... uding farming, medicine, the landfill, waste hauling, recycling, alternative energy, and several others. Influenced by his father's career as a family physician, Stan developed the mindset when someone needs help, drop what you are doing and help. This is how he has lived his life. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Stan came to the United States when he was four. In his younger years, he attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School, Parkside Junior High, and Normal Community High School. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University, graduating with a degree in Risk Management and Finance. He is a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church. After college, Stan moved to Chicago and worked in the finance and insurance industry before entering a career in information technology (IT). During his IT career, he worked for a major printing company, several technology companies, and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). His work in the corporate world taught him to continually improve, to consistently adopt new technologies and processes that allow a company (and one's self) become more efficient, and to "do more with less." In his role with the VA, Stan was a security architect, managing the security posture of the "core network architecture" for the VA globally-with over 250 hospital complexes, the VA is the largest singly managed Microsoft network in the world. His work and projects were disseminated to an IT staff of thousands throughout the globe. Stan's work within the VA showed him firsthand the waste, overspending, and inefficiencies inherent in the government. This was in contradiction to his experiences within corporate environments.
