It was a bold strategic concept way back early 2009 in “Cebu City-The IT hub in the Philippines” to form a small software research and development team from a selected I.T. professionals lead by its team leader Gera Mel E. Handomon. The initial plan consists of 4 software engineers, 1 support engineer, and 1 marketing specialist. The technology and... the detailed blueprint were ready but the problem at hand was the starting capital to jump-start the operation. Technically, who would believe a group of young innovators without name and money? Eventually, the team with code name secretly dubbed as “NexGen Research” slowly fading. It may seem so challenging but the only other option is to find funders outside Cebu City. It was the scenario when the light of hope came into the scene. The story hope, unfolded last May 2010, when the business proposal was presented to the General Manager of Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC)- Gadwin E. Handumon, the Board of Directors and Key Managers who positively responded for the operational funding. It was a proposal that generally benefits both PMPC as Research and Development Division to cater the needs of the I.T. group and to handle the coop’s systems. A target of 5 years' operation will demonstrate the effectiveness, capability, and potential of the team. From 2010, all the existing technology from NexGen was implemented to PMPC and continued the research and development to further enhance the systems. In September 2015 with 14 passionate and dynamic staff, NexGen finally reached and served 35 partners. Remarkably, the same time when it was officially span-off and registered to Security and Exchange Commission as NEXEN INNOVATION TECHNOLOGIES INC.
