New Hope Community Development Group

Established in 2004, the New Hope Community Development Group was formed. Based on the community outreach principles of the late Dr. Walter M. Richmond, Sr., of inclusive and equitable approaches, that will be of benefit to the community. The New Hope Community Development Group is a non-profit organization established to provide programs and offer... services that support and revitalize communities. Our active civic engagement promotes and supports community by working with the community to take action, organize and plan together to find solutions to common problems. We work with small community groups and also collaborate with other organizations, civic groups, local, state and federal government to provide economic development projects, such as affordable housing and community services that meet the needs of the community. We help to sustain and build healthy neighborhoods by building social capital, community engagement and organizing, assist neighbors getting to know each other (neighborhood associations), as well as find solutions that will lessen the impact of social justice disparities. We promote and assist with community clean ups of parks and streams when they take away from the health and appearance of the community. We provide advocacy of visual and safety features of streets such as sidewalks, better street lighting and open spaces. We provide informal educational seminars on health, health fairs, safety, finance/budgeting, workforce development (resume and interviewing techniques, job fairs), computer technology, literacy education (tutors), art and youth leadership programs that will help foster healthy neighborhoods and community growth. Strengthening our communities and empowering residents through community engagement programs, educational services, economic development, healthy eating and active living, by utilizing self-help approaches and collaboration.
