New England Organizing - Home

The New England Organizing Project (NEOP) is the umbrella organization for the unions built in the model first developed by the Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers. The current member-unions of the New England Organizing Project include the Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers (HUCTW) , SHARE at UMass Memorial Hospital (SHARE... Hospital) , SHARE at UMass Medical School (SHARE UMMS) , the Union of Social Workers (USW) at Cambridge Health Alliance, and the Tufts Employee Association (TEA) , the union organizing effort at Tufts University. The model emphasizes participation by members in decisions at work, and partnership and collaboration with the employer. One-to-one relationship building engages employees in the building of the union. Each union in the New England Organizing Project is different, created by a group of employees to fit their unique workplace. NEOP promotes their union model as a viable alternative for organizing new unions and revitalizing existing unions, in the U.S. and internationally. Kris Rondeau is the Director of NEOP. The New England Organizing Project is affiliated with AFSCME (American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees) a national union representing over a million members.
